Glucosamine is a compound found naturally in the body, made from glucose and the amino acid glutamine and is an important building block needed by the body to manufacture special molecules called glycosaminoglycans, found in cartilage. When cartilage breaks down over time, it cracks and breaks off, depriving joints of proper cushioning. Glucosamine stimulates chondrocytes (cartilage cells) to support cartilage and collagen, helping to promote healthy cartilage and joint function.
